Northern Arizona University’s Department of Teaching and Learning is seeking to fill two (2) tenure-track faculty positions; Assistant/Associate Professor in the area of Literacy/Reading Education. Candidates need to present an active record (Associate rank) or promise of scholarly productivity (Assistant rank), demonstrate excellence in teaching diverse students, and a commitment to procuring external funding. The individuals selected for these positions will be located at the NAU mountain campus in Flagstaff. They will teach undergraduate and graduate courses; mentor part-time instructors; advise students; work in clinical partnerships; and maintain an active program of research. Along with fulfill service responsibilities to the department, college, university, and the profession in addition to prepare and manage external grant proposals/programs. These appointments will begin in the Fall 2018 academic semester; with the opportunity for summer course teaching.

Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant Professor: An earned doctorate (degree completed by August 2018) in literacy/reading education, or an earned doctorate in closely related field along with reading endorsement or masters in reading; three (3) years elementary school teaching experience (K-8).

Associate Professor: All of the above, plus current status as associate professor or the equivalent of six (6) years’ experience as assistant professor.

Annual Salary:
Assistant Professor $55,000 - $60,000 – Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Associate Professor $64,000-$69,000 – Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
