Assistant or Associate Professor in Theatre Performance

TCU Department of Theatre invites applications for a newly-created, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Theatre Performance, who will regularly teach Acting (all levels), and Stage Combat. Required teaching rotation may also include regular teaching of Survey of Theatre, a non-majors general education course. Other desirable, though not required, teaching specializations include Stage Movement (Beginning and Advanced), Acting for the Camera, and Professional Careers Seminar. The TCU undergraduate theatre program offers the BFA and BA degrees in a liberal arts curriculum and seeks a dynamic and collaborative colleague for this position which begins August 13, 2018. 

Qualifications: Terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D), or significant professional experience, required. Teaching experience preferred. Professional theatre experience as an actor and/or director, active AEA membership and SAFD certification are also desirable, though candidates without these are still encouraged to apply.

Required Duties: Two semesters of teaching 3 courses per term, as determined by departmental needs, which may consist of various levels of Acting (Introduction, Realism, Period Styles, Acting Shakespeare, Non-Realism), and Stage Combat among others.  Occasional directing assignments in the Theatre TCU season will be infrequent, but possible; teaching release time is available during semesters with production responsibilities. Scholarship, creative activity, and service are required, as are academic advising and the close mentoring of students. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate outstanding classroom teaching skills in actor training, as well as collegial collaboration skills.
