Director Student Life The University of Tennessee at Martin The Director of Student Life at the University of Tennessee at Martin, under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, is charged with improving student life by working with various departments within the university to create an environment that fosters and promotes student learning and development. Responsible for the strategic leadership and day-to-day operations of the Student Life program that includes coordination of campus programs and services related to student activities, student organizations, Greek life, and University Center management and operation. DUTIES: • Lead collaborative strategic and tactical planning efforts that result in student life initiatives that support the university’s vision, mission and strategic goals. • Develop, direct and evaluate programs, policies, procedures, and guidelines for events, operations and customer service, and strive for continual improvement in operation and services. • Maintain knowledge of current regulations, policies, and eligibility requirements for specific student activities and related programs and services. • Direct, facilitate and manage the risk management aspect of the Student Life program with full-time staff members that oversee program and facility areas. Continually evaluate, recommend and update program risk management procedures. • Research best practices in student life initiatives and incorporate those findings into actionable strategic plans. • Plan, implement and evaluate co-curricular student activities which provides a vibrant campus environment that supports student recruitment and retention. • Provide strategic support and direction to 170 plus student organizations and 20 Greek organizations to help facilitate a vibrant student body. • Oversee process of developing new organizations and facilitate regular meetings of student leaders to communicate programming, policies, and address issues. • Provide support services and opportunities for student organizations to grow and develop. • Maintain database of all active student organizations, including co-curricular activities and community service. • Review and approve student organization & Greek Life events and programs. • Direct and manage the maintenance of the master calendar of student activities and events. • Collaborate with outside agencies to create service opportunities for students. • Advise IFC and NPC councils in relation to programming, risk management, judicial affairs, construction and by-law adherence, parliamentary procedure, and budget management. • Manage and facilitate the recruitment programs of IFC and NPC Greek Organizations and serve as the liaison between University and National Greek Organizations and Chapter Advisers. • Oversee the IFC and NPC council officer election and training process. • Promote partnerships across the Greek councils to enhance campus programming and diversity. • Coordinate oversight and advising for student leaders and general members of all Greek student organizations to include initiating, developing, implementing and evaluating various educational, training, accountability and recognition programs in support of their leadership and organizational needs. • Prepare, administer, and manage the operating budget and expenditures related to Student Life. • Performs financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making. • Serve the Division of Student Affairs in execution of its mission • Other duties as assigned   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, College Student Personnel, Leadership, or other closely related field. • Minimum 5 years full-time experience progressively responsible professional leadership experience in a collegiate environment. • Experience in personnel management, strategic planning, and budget management. • Experience working with diverse populations in program development; implementation, and assessment. • Ability to build effective relationships with a wide variety of people and organizations. • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. • PREFERRED: • Ph.D. in related field. • Experience supervising a professional team. • Direct experience in leading a Student Life program.
