The academic operations manager is responsible for providing day-to-day operational management support to a portfolio of academic departments. By providing support to those assigned departments, the academic operations manager eases the operational load on program leaders and helps them focus on academic management, especially as it relates to curriculum, instructional quality, course- and program-level achievements and the overall success of the department.

With direction from the executive director, registrar services and academic support, as well as vice presidents of academic services, the academic operations manager supports the academic departments in his/her portfolio with duties including, but not limited to, observing classes, managing the use of the school’s buildings and facilities and providing project management for school-based initiatives. The academic operations manager collaborates with the school deans and department chairs to help them achieve their goals as measured in the departmental report cards.

The academic operations manager also collaborates with school deans and department chairs to ensure that academic departments meet deadlines and requirements, achieve measurable goals and continuously enhance and elevate the experience of their students.

As part of the operational and project-based management responsibilities of the position, the academic operations manager may also be asked by academic services leadership to coordinate efforts with other university departments and offices to ensure that the assigned academic departments advance university priorities and initiatives.


SCAD seeks an experienced academic operations manager to join its team in historic Savannah, GA.
In this full-time role, your primary responsibility will be the day-to-day operational management support for a portfolio of academic departments. With direction from the executive director, registrar services, and academic support, as well as vice presidents of academic services, you will observe classes, manage the use of the school’s buildings and facilities, provide project management for school-based initiatives, and fulfill other duties that help school deans and department chairs achieve their goals as measured in the departmental report cards. Among other responsibilities, you may also be asked by academic services leadership to coordinate efforts with other university departments and offices to ensure the assigned academic departments advance university priorities and initiatives.
The successful candidate is a spectacular written and verbal communicator and demonstrates exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. With a strong eye for detail and accuracy, the candidate is able to multitask and manage projects with competing deadlines easily. Project management and organizational skills are a must.

Minimum Qualifications:
• B.A. degree minimum, 3-5 years relevant experience.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Expertise in computer applications and databases.
• Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines.

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
