SCAD Savannah seeks a senior director of library services to provide vision, oversight, and direction for growth within SCAD libraries.

In this role, you will oversee all operations under the head librarian of research and instruction and the head librarian of user experience and digital resources at Jen Library. You will provide functional and strategic direction for head librarians in Savannah and Atlanta and work closely with the dean of library services and other members of the university administration to maintain communication and integrate library resources and services. As a senior director, you will oversee head librarian activities (e.g., development of collections, systems, reference/access/technical services, etc.). You will evaluate and make recommendations to university administration on library collections, staffing, technology, and infrastructure, as well as develop, evaluate, and oversee the implementation of policies for SCAD libraries. Among other duties, you will also represent the university at meetings, conferences, and other external events.

The successful candidate is articulate and can implement an innovative vision for Jen Library, which should include a strong service orientation. Experience successfully managing a multi-location library system is vital, and the candidate should have a robust understanding of library resources needed for both instructional and scholarly support of SCAD students and faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a SCAD-taught discipline preferred
     
  • 10 years (minimum) of relevant, progressively responsible supervisory and administrative experience
     
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication, managerial, and financial abilities

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
