The academic administrative assistant provides comprehensive and professional administrative support services to the office of academic services, the assigned school dean, faculty and staff who serve within the organizational structure of the school. This is a high-level administrative support position that requires advanced project and people management skills through operational and administrative responsibilities, including tasks that require confidentiality, accuracy, punctuality, responsiveness and agility. The administrative academic assistant leads the departmental administrative assistants within assigned school on academic projects and university initiatives, and also collaborates with the academic operations managers to help academic departments meet requirements and deadlines on operational matters. The collaboration of the academic administrative assistant expands to all units of the university, including but not limited to, working on accreditation initiatives with institutional effectiveness, recruitment with admission, student matters with student success, registrar, career and alumni success, professional partnerships with SCADpro, academic content for printing and publishing with creative services, awards and rankings with institutional recognition, and more.

 SCAD seeks an enthusiastic administrative assistant to support its School of Digital Media and its departments in historic Savannah, Georgia.

In this full-time role, you will assist the department chair and school dean, as well as faculty and staff, with academic projects and other university initiatives, and collaborate with academic operations managers to help the department meet deadlines and requirements. You will also work with other SCAD departments, including accreditation initiatives with institutional effectiveness, recruitment with admission, student matters with student success, the registrar, the office for career and alumni success, and more.

The successful candidate demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills and exhibits a commitment to honesty, discipline, integrity, and confidentiality. An eye for detail and accuracy is essential, and the candidate should possess advanced project- and people-management abilities. Always punctual and professional, the candidate is highly organized and responsive and is able to manage priorities with ease. Demonstrated success working with executive-level personnel is vital. The ability to thrive as both an individual and team-based contributor is essential as well.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • Two to three years of relevant work experience in a relevant field, preferably academic
  • Proficient with computers and software such as Word, Excel, and Banner (or similar database)
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, and InDesign) preferred

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
