Vice President for Administration and Finance

Kansas State University (K-State) seeks an experienced, creative, and skilled administrator to serve as its next vice president for administration and finance (VPAF).

Kansas State University is a comprehensive, research, land-grant institution serving students and the people of Kansas, the nation, and the world. Kansas State University and its 1,300 faculty educate more than 20,000 total students and provide some of the best global food systems and biosecurity research in the world. The university is progressing toward its goal of becoming a premier public research university. The university has nine academic colleges and offers more than 250 majors and options. The Graduate School offers more than 159 graduate degrees and certificates in multiple disciplines. The Princeton Review recognizes the university as one of the nation’s best colleges, and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities designated Kansas State University as an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University. The incoming vice president will report directly to President Richard Linton, who began his duties as K-State’s new president on February 14, 2022. The VPAF will be responsible for providing strategic financial management, oversee the campus wide budgeting processes and manage capital planning. Furthermore, the VPAF will manage various administrative and operations management of the campus, including but not limited to risk management, compliance, and public safety.

Specific units reporting to the vice president include: University Budget Office, Administrative Support Center, Internal Audit, Division of Facilities, Environmental Health and Safety, Parking Services, Campus Police, and Risk and Compliance. The next vice president for administration and finance should be a savvy financial leader with broad leadership experience and administrative capabilities. The VPAF should be a service-oriented professional with strong change management skills, and the ability to set a vision for the finance and administration division that supports and aligns with the campus’s overall mission, goals, and objectives.

The VPAF should bring exceptional communication skills and have a strong track record of leading and managing teams collaboratively and effectively. A master’s degree is required as well as 10 or more years of relevant experience. More information can be found at www.wittkieffer.com.
