SCAD Savannah seeks an enthusiastic, full-time professor of animation to join its faculty of dedicated design professionals.

In this role, you will impart your animation acumen to the next generation of character technical directors. Using your expertise, you will teach students how to conceptualize and build animation-friendly rigs that are both intuitive and technically advanced. You will also guide students as they learn to build 3D character rigs and animation interfaces that control performance and body or facial deformation.

As a professor, you will teach a full course load (four classes) each quarter. For each of these courses, you will plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study with measurable goals and outcomes. For the success of the department, you will help develop and maintain an animation curriculum for the animation B.F.A., M.F.A., and M.A. programs, and you will be responsible for recruitment efforts and tasks as assigned by the department’s chair. You will maintain regular on-campus office hours and provide academic advisement to your assigned students, including assisting in class registration and reviewing/approving student schedules using online registration software. You will also play an active role in the success of the department, often participating in committee assignments, student advancement reviews, department openings, senior reception, commencement, and SCAD Days, among other activities.

The successful candidate stays current in his or her areas of expertise and has a strong portfolio of lighting and compositing work. Experience with relevant software, including Maya, Python, Mel, Mari, Substance Painter, Paint3D, Adobe Photoshop, Unreal, and Unity, is essential. Knowledge of cloth and hair simulation and setup is a welcome bonus, as is experience with modeling. Using exceptional verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills, the candidate can collaborate effectively and comfortably with all stakeholders, including administration, faculty, and students. The candidate should also possess strong organizational skills and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
