SCAD Savannah seeks a professor of animation with a flair for storytelling and creative concept art to help guide the leaders of tomorrow’s animation industry. As a professor, you will use your ability to weave unexpected stories into concept designs that energize students as they, too, become skilled animators. Successful candidates possess a stylistic versatility in their approach to animation, as well as strong drawing, painting, design, and caricature abilities. A mastery of architectural and organic forms is vital, as is exceptional color sense and a general knowledge of the CG process. Candidates should have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and employ their excellent communication skills to collaborate with students, faculty, and administration alike. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. Candidates should possess a reel, website, or flat book of their work that conveys an understanding of cinematic storytelling and visual design. If relevant, candidates should also have a similar collection of work from their former students. Named among the best small cities in the U.S. by Condé Nast Traveler and listed by Moviemaker Magazine as one of the best small cities in which to live and work as a filmmaker, Savannah offers an inviting climate and a culturally rich downtown that provides a real-world workshop for the study of art and design. This dynamically layered learning environment is but one factor into the success of the SCAD animation department, which was named among the world’s top animation schools and the “Ivy League of Animation” by 3D World magazine.
