SCAD Savannah seeks a full-time professor of communication to help students develop as critical thinkers, build essential tools to complement their studio practice, and ensure their professional creative success.

SCAD Core, one of the most academically diverse general education programs at any arts university in the United States, is where SCAD students learn to express, defend, and investigate new ideas in required and elective classes. Communication faculty at SCAD teach one of the most important SCAD Core components, COMM 105 Speaking of Ideas, which is required for every undergraduate student. This fundamental class invites students to study techniques of oral communication and to read and speak about the ideas they encounter on a variety of cultural, historical, and social topics.

The successful candidate is enthusiastic and an exceptional communicator, both in writing and speaking. Along with stellar presentation skills, the candidate has demonstrated experience working with a diverse student population. Proactive, the candidate should have a keen awareness of how to help advance the SCAD mission of preparing extraordinary students for professional careers and how to serve as contributing member of the SCAD liberal arts department, which houses faculty teaching across nearly 20 disciplines.

This is your chance to work with remarkable students and faculty in a vibrant and entrepreneurial workplace woven throughout the historic district of Savannah, Ga., a walkable, bikeable coastal city that provides a living laboratory for the study of art and design. The city of Savannah’s inviting climate and a culturally rich downtown provide SCAD with a dynamically layered learning environment in which students, faculty, and staff flourish.
