Job Description Summary
The Wharton IDEA Team seeks a IT Technical Director to support the Audio Visual demands of Wharton Classrooms, Group Study Rooms, Conference Rooms and Special Event locations in Philadelphia, San Francisco and Beijing campus' across the Wharton School portfolio. Reporting to the Senior IT Director of the IDEA team, the IT Technical Director will be responsible for the development and execution of a multi-million dollar tech fund to support the desgn, development, construction, and support of all public locations utilizing technology at Wharton.

Job Description

Summary of Duties
  • Team Management: To manage all personnel and oversee operations within the Systems Team.
  • High-Level Technical Innovation: To engage with high-level projects for the school with a focus on evolving technology for all relevant spaces. Creating and improving end-user experiences while being heavily involved in research and design.
  • Global Standardization Strategies: Working with team leaders at HQ and satellite campuses to maintain and standardize technology, Wharton system branding, and the end-user experience. Gathering faculty and end-user feedback to keep up with their technological needs.
  • Community Outreach Planning: Work closely with the Senior IT Project Leader to create a platform that assists internal groups in navigating and procuring System Team services. A goal is to use this platform as a tool to further engage the Systems Team with the Penn community by sharing knowledge and experiences regarding Wharton's AV technology.
  • Vendor Relations: Work with the Senior IT project leader to maintain existing vendor relationships and create new vendor relationships involving AV system design and deployment.
  • Vendor Contract Management: Oversee vendor SLA contracts to ensure they align with Wharton's needs and policies regarding the upkeep and reactive/proactive services of our systems.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in AV industry and +1M budgeting responsibility.
  • Thorough understanding of AV design concepts and principles, college-level pedagogy (including active learning principles, collaborative learning, and case-based learning), Classroom Operations, and construction project familiarity.
  • Thorough understanding of physical Asset Management, 5-year forecasting, and operating budget management at a departmental level.
  • Experience evaluating, recommending, and supporting instructional technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience forming collaborative and constructive relationships with faculty and staff.
  • Track record of successfully leading large-scale AV technology projects.
  • Ability to participate in the team's on-call evening and weekend support as needed.
  • Preferred qualifications: AV management and AV project management at a College, University, or other Educational Technology setting.
