With the announced retirement of President Paul Trible, who has successfully led Christopher Newport University since 1996, the Board of Visitors invites nominations and applications for the appointment of president.  Building upon the platform of Christopher Newport’s transformation over the past 25 years, the president will have a unique opportunity to play a defining role in shaping the future of the institution, develop new and additional priorities and aspirations, and lead the university to even greater levels of excellence.

Christopher Newport University is a thriving academic community of 5,000 students.  U.S. News and World Report consistently ranks the university as one of the top regional universities in the south. The academic experience at Christopher Newport is rich, rigorous, and rewarding. It is the broad and deep education offered by the liberal arts and sciences that provides the foundation for a life of success and significance. Many of its programs are recognized for their outstanding achievements and contributions: Wason Center for Civic Leadership, President’s Leadership Program, Ferguson Center for the Performing Arts, Mary M.
