The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics. This position offers an extraordinary opportunity to a visionary leader who has the highest commitment to academic and scholarly standards and who is an accomplished leader in a field represented in the College. The Dean will have primary responsibility for the College’s mission and outcomes including its programmatic, financial, and management operations that support the College’s strategic goals.

About the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI): UNC Charlotte is one of the most rapidly growing universities in the country and the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) plays a critical role through its continued growth in enrollment, program quality, and research excellence. CCI is comprised of three departments: Computer Science, Software and Information Systems, and Bioinformatics and Genomics, and is also the administrative home to the university-wide School of Data Science. CCI is the university leader in external funding per faculty member and has the University’s largest M.S. and Ph.D. programs. CCI offers the largest, most diverse, and comprehensive computing program in North Carolina, and is one of the 20 largest in the nation. In addition to being the largest and fastest-growing computing college in the Carolinas, CCI is also the number-one producer of Black, Hispanic, and female computer science graduates. Between 2017-21, CCI's female enrollment increased by 53%. The college has over 120 faculty and staff and over 3,800 students at bachelor, master’s, and doctoral levels. In the last ten years, CCI’s enrollment has nearly tripled, and the awarding of undergraduate degrees has increased by 720%. CCI has a nationally competitive research program with a rich set of research projects ranging from fundamental discovery to society and industry driven innovations. The major research centers and clusters of topics in CCI include large-scale data visualization and analytics, robotics, artificial intelligence, cyber-security and privacy, human-centric computing, computer science education innovation, bioinformatics, and genomics. CCI has over 200 researchers including faculty, doctoral students, and postdoctoral research associates with a competitive track record of peer-reviewed research publications. Between 2018-2021, CCI averaged 59.25 awards and $11.65M in funding, annually. CCI is also a national leader in integrating computing education with diversity and leadership development.
