Director- Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2) Diversity Strategy

About Us

This position will reside within the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2).  This role provides professional diversity and inclusion advisement services to unit leadership and 120+ research faculty personnel in EI2, most of which are assigned as Georgia Tech Extension Professionals.  

Georgia Tech Extension Professionals are research personnel assigned to fulfill the extension service mission of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond.  This mission includes, but is not limited to, technology-based economic development, technology commercialization and deployment, entrepreneurship, start-up company incubation, and business/industry outreach.  Extension Professionals also provide educational programs for business and industry in support of these missions through facilitating and fostering increased industrial engagement and sponsorship of applied research activities at Georgia Tech.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) strategy for designated unit that is aligned with and supportive of the Georgia Tech (GT) strategy for diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position will report directly to the Vice President of the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute ( EI2) and will serve/work closely with the GT VP for Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (IDEI) to align EI2's Diversity and Inclusion Strategy with the IDEI's Diversity Strategy. The incumbent will advise EI2 leadership on creating a climate and culture for change to move toward a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.
This position will interact on a regular basis with: executive leadership, directors, managers, faculty, researchers, and staff regarding Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. This position typically will advise and counsel: executive leadership, directors, managers, faculty, researchers, and staff regarding Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. This position will supervise: diversity and inclusion consultants, training facilitators, coordinators and others as assigned

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Advise unit leadership on diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies to create and shape a climate and culture for a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace environment.

Job Duty 2 -
Increase and nurture the presence of racial and gender diversity within leadership roles.

Job Duty 3 -
Lead and oversee work direction, mentorship, and performance management of D&I employees.

Job Duty 4 -
Develop and monitor inclusive, equity-minded recruiting and engagement strategies to increase retention and foster engagement for all employees.

Job Duty 5 -
Provide leadership in developing and maintaining a diverse, engaged and proactive Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) council.

Job Duty 6 -
Lead the development and monitoring of metrics focused on measuring the effectiveness of diversity initiatives in alignment with GT IDEI or unit-specific programs.

Job Duty 7 -
Develop and manage D&I training needs, mentorship programs, and sponsorship programs to facilitate career development and accelerate career progression of under-represented faculty and staff.

Job Duty 8 -
Develop equity agendas and training portfolios in alignment and collaboration with GT Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (IDEI).

Job Duty 9 -
Develop and maintain Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and mentor ERG leaders in collaboration with GT IDEI.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in human resources, organizational development, business management, psychology, sociology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Eight or more years of experience in recruiting, EEOC compliance, HR, learning and development, or talent management.
Five or more years of experience leading a comprehensive diversity, equity and inclusion program.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certification(s) in Diversity and Inclusion, Project Management, Change Management, Succession Planning and/or Human Resources
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree in human resources, organizational development, business management, psychology, sociology or related field
Preferred Experience
Experience leading enterprise projects, strategic planning, strategy consulting, and designing evidence-based or data-driven diversity and inclusion initiatives. Experience leading in a research-based or higher education institution

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Specialized skills required for this job includes advanced organizational diversity knowledge and technical acumen. Expertise in strategic planning, budgeting, and operations planning. Ability to analyze and translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy and impact. Strong project or program management skills. Exceptional organizational, and interpersonal skills (ability collaborate and problem-solve with innovative, equity-based solutions. Strong leadership and presentation skills. Excellent written and verbal skills and advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office related computer applications.

This position is a hybrid remote position.
