Associate Provost for Learning and Teaching Innovation

West Chester University (WCU) seeks an academic innovator with extensive knowledge of trends in technology and higher education; current research on digital teaching and learning, online learning pedagogy; and the emerging platforms and tools for delivering digital education. Reporting to the Deputy Provost, the Associate Provost for Learning and Teaching Innovation (APLTI) will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in forming the vision and direction of the University in face-to-face, blended, and fully online classes. The APLTI will advance educational innovations by supporting, conducting, and disseminating teaching and learning research, as well as building and evaluating the institution’s education technology tools and working with faculty and staff to use them effectively. 


The Associate Provost for Learning and Teaching Innovation will lead and oversee the Office of Digital Learning and Innovation, the faculty associate for teaching and learning, and provide oversight for the Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Center.


The successful candidate will have a terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution; faculty experience; administrative management and leadership skills; possess  knowledge about high-quality instructional delivery models; have a commitment to digital education with the credibility to serve as an internal and external champion of the value of technology as a tool to advance and transform teaching and learning; experience advancing the culture of learning and teaching and navigating the changing landscape of pedagogy in higher education; have a record of supporting departments, schools, and/or colleges in offering online and hybrid courses and technologically rich face-to-face academic programs; possess the ability to create and lead programs that enhance student learning, retention, graduation, and professional development; demonstrate a commitment to the principles of universal design to ensure that the procurement of digital tools, the development of digital learning environments, and the use of instructional technology in classrooms is accessible and inclusive of all learners; demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and have experience working with budgets that include both expense and revenue targets and adjusting priorities/programs to successfully meet budget targets.

Located in historic and charming West Chester, 25 miles west of Philadelphia and 17 miles north of Wilmington, Delaware, WCU is home to 14,500+ undergraduate and 2,900+ graduate students. WCU currently offers 118 undergraduate, 103 master's, and four doctorate degree programs taught by 695 full-time and 298 part-time faculty. WCU has an additional location in Center City Philadelphia.
