Job Description Summary
At the direction of the Assistant Chief Network Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology, the Medical Physicist (A/B/C) is a board certified Medical Physicist who will play a primary role in meeting the overall clinical physics needs in Penn Medicine network. Specifically, the Medical Physicist A/B/C will provide clinical coverage of network physics activities, including QA of Linear accelerator or Proton Therapy Unit, treatment planning needs, special treatment procedures, advanced CT or 4DCT simulation, and implementing new treatment techniques. The Medical Physicist is expected to maintain knowledge of current technologies. For this position, the primary site of coverage is Chester County, PA.
Targeted Pay Range $90,860-$220,000

Job Description

DUTIES:

The Medial Physicist A/B/C is a board certified Medical Physicist whose primary responsibility will be in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Chester County Hospital in PA but will also be responsible for providing cross-coverage at other Penn Medicine Network Sites. The medical physicist is expected to perform clinical physics duties which include but not limited to equipment quality assurance and calibration, simulation and treatment planning, patient specific quality assurance and required chart checks and review, equipment maintenance and vendor relations, radiation safety, and special physics activities. At the direction of the Assistant Chief of Network Physics, the Medical Physicist will participate in teaching and education activities, clinical developmental activities. The Medical Physicist will be familiar with clinical procedures guiding Radiation Therapy Clinical Physics. This position will also require the Medical Physicist to familiarize with and follow all departmental guidelines, policies and procedure. There is also an expectation of participations, when possible, in some departmental meeting and other activates related to QA/QC. The Medical Physicist is expected to maintain knowledge of current technologies and remain an active member of the American Association of Physicist in Medicine.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Medical Physicist A: American Board of Radiology (ABR) eligible; no experience is required; residency training in medical physics is preferred

Medical Physicist B: ABR-certified; 2-3 years' experience working as a full-time medical physics (A)

Medical Physicist C: ABR-certified; 5-7 years' experience as a fulltime medical physicist

Targeted Pay Range $90,860-$220,000

Must possess knowledge of and experience with Varian's ARIA, Eclipse, TrueBeam, and conventional clinical physics procedures, including but not limited to: operation and calibration of treatment devices, operation and calibration of dosimetry equipment, operation and calibration of treatment planning systems, quality assurance procedures, "specialized procedures" (SRS, SBRT), and familiarity safety procedures and regulations as per the PA Department of Environmental Protection.
