Lecturer in Discipline/Senior Lecturer in Discipline of Nonprofit Management

The School of Professional Studies (SPS) at Columbia University invites applications for full-time positions at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline or Senior Lecturer in Discipline to teach in the MS Program in Nonprofit Management. This position will begin on July 1, 2018. This is a full-time appointment with multi-year renewal contingent on successful review. 
 

The successful candidate will teach courses related to nonprofit management in one or more of the following areas:

a) The history and philosophy of the nonprofit sector, including nonprofit governance and ethics in the nonprofit sector; and/or

b) Data analytics and performance metrics as applied to the nonprofit sector, as well as data asset management; and/or

c) Fundraising and development in the nonprofit sector, including fundamentals of fundraising and courses addressing fundraising technology, software and social media platforms. In addition, a candidate who specializes in fundraising should be able to teach two or more advanced or specialty courses such as major and leadership giving, grant writing, prospect research, and/or fundraising in diverse, international and intercultural environments, etc.

Successful candidates must be able to teach across modalities, including on campus, hybrid (combined on campus and online), and entirely online courses. Candidates may also be asked to teach a capstone course, i.e., an integrative course for students that combines skillsets across the nonprofit management curriculum for a substantial, client-based, group project overseen by faculty member.

The ideal candidate will hold a master’s degree, terminal degree, or its professional equivalent in law, financial management, fundraising, public administration, business administration, business ethics, or another area related to nonprofit management and exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, instructional design, and professional practice and/or scholarship.

Candidates at the rank of Senior Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have substantial experience and accomplishments, and a superlative record of teaching as a lecturer, and documented evidence of excellence in carrying out administrative or other department responsibilities. 
 

Candidates at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have teaching experience, documented evidence of excellence, and evidence of professional growth and activity in the given field.
