York College of Pennsylvania

Founding Dean, School of Nursing and Health Professions

York College of Pennsylvania seeks a dynamic, solutions-oriented, visionary to serve as the founding dean of its School of Nursing and Health Professions.

The dean will be the leader of a new school that will encompass the existing programs in Nursing, selected programs in Biology, and new programs in the health professions. The dean will be charged with the planning and implementation of additional new programs in the health professions. The new school will be the second in a series of five schools that will be linked by an interdisciplinary Center for Collaborative Innovation. The deans of the five schools will work together to generate new programs so as to counterbalance the five schools becoming separate administrative silos.

The dean will report to the provost and serve on the Provost’s Council. The dean is responsible for preparing budgets, recruiting well-qualified professors, overseeing all of the professional accreditations within the new school, and acting as a spokesperson for the school and liaison with area health care leaders. The dean oversees faculty development to assure the high-quality teaching that is central to York College’s mission.

The dean will possess an earned doctorate in Nursing, Public Health, Physical Therapy, Physiology, Kinesiology or another health-related field. A Ph.D. in a basic science may be acceptable if supplemented by significant work experience in healthcare education. The dean will have a proven record as a scholar and educator, and will bring significant academic and administrative leadership to this position.
