Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, invites applications for the position of Director of the School of Engineering. The Director serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the School (duties comparable to those of a Dean) and reports to the Chancellor. The School has 70 full-time faculty members and offers nine ABET accredited bachelor degree programs, as well as a Masters of Manufacturing Management and an Interdisciplinary Business with Engineering Studies degree delivered with the Black School of Business. The School has an enrollment of over 1,700 students and is was ranked 29th by U.S. News among all undergraduate engineering schools in the United States.

All programs in the School have a capstone design experience resulting in extensive hands-on design project opportunities working with real-world applications. Each spring, the students showcase their work by presenting these projects at the Richard J. Fasenmyer Engineering Design Conference. The School of Engineering is co-located with the college's Black School of Business in the Jack Burke Research and Economic Development Center. Penn State Behrend was one of the first educational institutions in the country to bring its schools of business and engineering together under a single roof to create multidisciplinary learning experiences for students. The School has a growing research portfolio, including an emphasis on industry-sponsored research. The new Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Center in Knowledge Park co-locates academia and industry in a shared open-lab environment. It builds on the established success of Knowledge Park, a 125-acre business and technology complex on the Penn State Behrend campus hosting twenty companies and more than 500 employees in the park, with access to campus equipment and amenities.

Candidates should have a teaching and research record with credentials commensurate for appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure. A Ph.D. in one of the School's academic disciplines or a closely related field is required. The ideal candidate should have at least three years of leadership experience, including a record of progressively increasing responsibilities.

Penn State Behrend (behrend.psu.edu) is a highly respected, comprehensive four-year, and graduate College of Penn State. Students, faculty, and staff enjoy a vibrant campus community and the extraordinary beauty of the College's 854-acre setting in the suburbs of Erie, Pennsylvania. The institution's 5,050 students can choose from 37 baccalaureate majors and 23 minors, four associate degree programs, and five masters programs including Accounting, Applied Clinical Psychology, Business Administration, Manufacturing Management, and Project Management. The College is organized into four schools: Business; Engineering; Humanities and Social Sciences; and Science. There are approximately 293 full-time and 75 part-time faculty.

Currently, there are more than 50 buildings on campus, including residential housing for 1,750 students. A new residence hall is currently under construction. There are two nearby off-campus housing units as well. Our students hail from 36 states, districts, and territories, and 44 countries. There are more than 100 student clubs/ organizations as well as award-winning speaker and chamber music series to enrich campus life. A strong NCAA Division III athletics program features 22 varsity teams.

Erie is a metropolitan area of 280,000, and is located on Lake Erie's beautiful Presque Isle Bay. The region has a favorable cost of living, offers a wide variety of cultural and recreational resources, has a strong manufacturing base, and is in close proximity to the metropolitan areas of Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Buffalo.
