Position Focus:
The Center for International and Professional Experience at Yale University is seeking a highly organized, student-focused individual with exceptional written communication, project management and interpersonal skills to direct the competitions for a portfolio of national fellowships including Fulbright and Truman and manage and oversee Yale's International Study Award (a comprehensive funding opportunity for study abroad). The Associate Director of Fellowships and Funding will play a central role in supporting students as they apply for these funding opportunities to further their academic, personal and professional goals. This position will collaborate closely with faculty, departments, and programs across the university to develop and oversee the recruitment and preparation of students and to advise and guide deliberations during faculty nomination committees. The Associate Director will work closely with the Fellowships team and the Director to increase the awareness of funding opportunities generally among the Yale student body and help lead the development of effective and efficient models for committee work, student advising and outreach. In addition, the Associate Director will oversee the collection and analysis of our data.

Essential Duties: Lead the administration of a portfolio of national fellowships including Fulbright and Truman. Recruit and advise candidates, manage national application processes and practice interviews. Oversee the writing of institutional letters of endorsement. Oversee the application process, awarding, stewardship, and relationships among multiple stakeholders for Yale's International Study Award. Develop and maintain relationships with external funding agencies and foundations.
Develop, promote and deliver relevant educational programming. Develop and maintain network of contacts among Yale faculty for faculty committees. Manage undergraduate and graduate student workers in fellowships and for the ISA.
Represent the University at regional and national conferences, professional associations, and occasional international site visits. Develop and maintain relationships with other university departments. Collaborate on Yale College fellowship competitions as needed. Assist in the development of new fellowship opportunities in Yale College and in the broader mission of Fellowship Programs. Research, monitor, implement and contribute to best practices in the field of International Education. Serve on and/or chair various CIPE, Yale College and University committees and projects. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Duties:
1. Directs, monitors, and assesses needs and directs the application of resources of an administrative University office dealing with one or more major functional areas. 2. Directs and implements solutions to problems that are routine to complex in nature and that affect multiple functional areas of responsibility. 3. Plans and/or participates in planning University activities on a long-term basis to comply with University goals and objectives. 4. Establishes and implements consistent university-wide policies in multiple functional areas of responsibility. 5. Ensures that University office policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. 6. Develops and monitors goals and objectives for managerial and professional staff in compliance with University strategies. 7. Directs a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 8. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in related field and five years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Exceptional organizational skills. Ability to juggle multiple complex tasks, meet multiple deadlines, set priorities and work both independently and as part of a creative team.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in dealing with sensitive material.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Highly developed interpersonal and advising skills. Exceptional editorial and writing skills. Familiarity with a range of database, spreadsheet, word processing, and web design software packages.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Appreciation and respect for principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ability to engage with diverse individuals (age, gender, nationality, race/ethnicity, profession, sexual orientation, etc.).

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Academic advising experience, preferably in fellowship competitions. Experience working closely with faculty. Master's degree. Three to five years of experience either teaching or in administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of university systems, knowledge of external funding agencies and foundations; experience living or studying abroad.
