Job Description Summary
The Office of Risk Management & Insurance is responsible for the property and casualty operations of the University and Health System in the areas of property insurance, general and automobile liability insurance, workers' compensation, environmental, fine arts, medical, dental, and veterinary professional liability, international travel, and student athlete insurances. The office identifies and evaluates areas of potential exposure to risk and implements measures to reduce risk across the institution.

Included in these activities are the purchase of property and casualty insurance to protect the institution and its subsidiary or controlled entities against risk of financial loss, managing services with insurance brokers, carriers and claims service providers, and educating operating units of the University with respect to the scope of the insurance coverage.

Reporting to the Director of Claims, the Risk Analyst will be responsible for the automobile insurance program and assist in the liability claims function for the University and Health System. The Risk Analyst will oversee the automobile claim from inception to resolution. The duties will include liaise with third party administrators, provide coverage determinations, investigate losses, document loss information, coordinate with commercial carriers, and handle subrogation efforts. This position will determine appropriate processes and procedures pertaining to fleet management, recommend loss mitigation strategies, and provide ad hoc claims analysis. The Risk Analyst will assist with the liability claims function including all claims non-litigated claims, personal property damage claims, and student claims.

Additionally, the Risk Analyst will manage the certificates of insurance function, assist with underwriting activities, assist in the administration of risk management information system, coordinate insurance renewals, and support staff with other insurance and administrative activities.

Job Description

Assist with automobile claims handling activities including the reporting claims, investigate losses, coordination with third party administrators, and handle subrogation efforts.

Responsible for the evaluation and adjusting of non-litigated general liability property damage claims for University and Penn Medicine.

Coordinate third party fleet management vendor to ensure issues are handled in a timely fashion, vehicle registrations are completed on time, and maintain accurate records of the fleet.

Responsible for the certificate of insurance function. Issue evidence of insurance on behalf of the University and Penn Medicine. Manage system for requests.

Assist with the administration of RMIS system

Facilitate support to the team for various tasks including triaging general inquiries and administration of operational functions.

Compile underwriting information to assist with insurance renewal applications

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Broad knowledge of insurance operations and claims handling is preferred. Ability to work under limited supervision, multi-task, prioritize various functions, and exercise independent judgement. Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, analytical skills.
