Assistant Vice President of Development, College of Arts & Science
The Assistant Vice President of Development for the College of Arts and Science will work strategically with key external stakeholders to set engagement activities with the College of Arts and Science at Miami University. This person will also work with other University leaders to develop and implement strategies that impact the College broadly as well as to help advance the mission of Miami University by planning, organizing and implementing strategies to increase the level of financial support of donors and prospects of the College of Arts and Science.
Miami University is a public university founded in 1809 with over 200,000 alumni and 20,000 enrolled students. These students major in over 120 different fields of study. The College of Arts and Science is the oldest and largest college at Miami and has over 48% of the student body enrolled in its majors and 100% of Miami students will take one or more classes within the college. The College currently has over 82,000 living alumni.

Oversee the strategic engagement of all CAS prospects and donors as well as other alumni and corporate partners. Plan and execute corporate visits, alumni visiting executive days and the recruitment of new alums and companies. Identify, cultivate, and personally solicit alumni, parents and friends of Miami University for gifts. Manage an exclusive prospect portfolio.
Work with University and other University Advancement staff to coordinate and plan alumni events and speakers, as well as provide direct support for several advisory boards including but not limited to the CAS Alumni Advisory Board, the Mallory Wilson Pre Med Board, and the Pre Law Board. Work with CAS Dean’s Office to identify and recommend board nominations as well as the Divisional Recognition Keynote Speaker.
Direct all aspects of a comprehensive development program for the College of Arts and Science in response to all campaign goals and initiatives. Oversee the development of messaging, metrics, goals, and progress for CAS development and campaign program. Manage and develop strategies for all prospects of the College. Manage and direct all development staff assigned to work for CAS.
Prepare and present gift proposals to prospects with the input and assistance of faculty, administrators, and deans, as well as other constituent and central development officers. Proposals may involve establishing multi-year commitments, as well as helping to facilitate gifts of real estate, personal property, securities, and gifts in wills, trusts, annuities and insurance.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Eight or more years of relevant experience including fundraising, sales, business development, and/or corporate engagement
- Proven track record in strategically working with high net worth individuals
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated level of leadership and management
- Willingness to travel extensively on both a regional and national level
- Master’s degree
- Fundraising experience in an educational setting
- Experience working with a donor database system
- Management experience
