The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of the following models/techniques: Transgenic and allogeneic murine cancer models and surgical procedures. Photodynamic therapy and ionizing therapy irradiations. Analysis of immune and molecular responses by flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and RNAseq. Handling and analysis of human biospecimens Culture and molecular analysis of human/murine cancer cells/organoids. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Human research protections training (CITI or equivalent) HIPAA training.

Responsibilities may include the study of the mechanisms of tumor and/or normal tissue responses to investigational modalities in radiotherapy. This work will include fundamental and mechanistic investigations in pre-clinical models and in research samples from patients treated on trials of these modalities.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to be involved in developing paradigm shifting novel therapeutic approaches using radiotherapy to treat cancer. This is a unique opportunity to participate in the full spectrum of bench to bedside translational research that will include use of clinically relevant models of human cancer and clinical research from planning research endpoints to sample collection and analyses.
