Job Description Summary
Penn's Division of the Vice Provost for Student Engagement (VPSE) seeks individuals who are interested in serving as graduate assistants (GA) and course instructors for: 12th grade students attending School District of Philadelphia public schools, public charter schools, and Archdiocese of Philadelphia schools;

The VPSE Division works on behalf of the Provost with the Deans of the twelve schools and other senior University Partners: to markedly increase access, participation, engagement, and outcomes of students from cohort groups under-represented in postsecondary, graduate, and professional education by expanding their skills, knowledge, confidence, motivation, and preparedness to successfully navigate relevant application and enrollment processes.

VPSE summer programming will be held virtually to immerse participants in academic , career, and postsecondary preparatory experience with synchronous and asynchronous content. GA responsibilities will include live instruction and student cohort mentoring.

Job Description

Duties:

Responsible for one "pod" of up to 25 high school senior student participants with the primary charge of supporting them with completing the PennRSSA Summer Academy program, including academic and enrichment activities, mentoring, and ensuring the completion of synchronous and asynchronous program assignments (e.g. Common Application, supplemental college admissions essays, FAFSA, personal budget, career plan, and resume, among other related assignments.)

Qualifications:

PennRSSA graduate assistants who have a demonstrated interest in educational access and equity; who are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about ways to support learning through guided synchronous and asynchronous team-building activities; who have the ability to provide rich, interactive, mission-aligned content and creative pedagogy; who can establish authentic relationships; who can work collaboratively with program and School colleagues; and who place participants' interests and aspirations at the heart of the program experience. Knowledge of college admissions process as well as instruction and support via Canvas and Google Classroom a plus.
