Job Description Summary
This position is responsible for managing the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Research Program. The candidate will oversee federally-funded multicenter projects.

Job Description

The Associate Director will assist with grant development, participate in facility and contractual issues, and will develop and manage budgets. Perform budgetary, operational, and resource analyses for current and new research studies. The Associate Director will oversee personnel in the group including hiring, orientation, workload, assignments, staffing, and performance evaluation and management. The candidate will assist the Principal Investigators in selecting pharmaceutical funded and federally funded projects to undertake. Responsible for assisting in the management, coordination and start-up of clinical research studies.

Duties:

Identify and cultivate research opportunities; facilitate contract and budget negotiations and complete regulatory start-up. Manage the intake of all sponsored research studies, including CDA, PI identification, operational analyses, resource management, budgetary analyses and identifying recruitment challenges. Managing data/material transfer agreements. Grant writing and facilitating grant submission

Overall management of studies and projects with the determination of feasibility including communication with Sponsors and affiliates. Responsible for regulatory oversight of multiple projects and must possess full knowledge and understanding of all of the Program's clinical protocols. Protocols may include IND trials.

Provide clinical and administrative support to the Director of the PVD Research Program in financial decision-making (internal and external budgets, staff salary support and effort distribution, purchasing)

Create and modify clinical trial protocol, design MOP and database and assist with start-up of studies in the coordinating center. Attend, coordinate, and lead study meetings and teleconferences. Oversee multiple Field Centers and Cores at other institutions. Perform yearly site visits for QC. Provide oversight to personnel at all participating sites. Work with PIs to perform data cleaning and analysis.

Management of team meetings: staff meetings, program and PI meetings, business meetings.

Management of PVD staff; Responsible for hiring, orientation, mentoring, training of new and current personnel, ongoing staff education and completing performance evaluations and management, if required, as well as overseeing day to day operations of group

Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Master's Degree with 5-7 years of related experience; or combination of equivalent education and experience required.

Knowledge of FDA regulations and GCP-ICH guidelines; and comprehensive understanding of clinical trials processes and the conduct of clinical research studies.

Previous experience with grant writing and submissions, budget creation and resource allocation

Previous Project and Program Management experience preferred.
