The Department of Teacher Education and Foundations at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning September 2018.  The Department of Teacher Education and Foundations offers a range of undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate programs including: minors in Education and Gender and Sexuality Studies; credentials in elementary, elementary with bilingual authorization, and secondary teaching well as the Reading and Literacy Specialist; and the Master of Arts in Education degree with options in Curriculum and Instruction, Holistic and Integrative Education, Reading, STEM and TESOL. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the department of Teacher Education and supervision of field experiences. 

California State University, San Bernardino (a Hispanic serving Institution) is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles.  CSUSB offers programs through the colleges of Arts and Letters, Business and Public Administration, Education, Natural Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley.  CSUSB serves approximately 20,700 students and offers 47 undergraduate, 35 graduate and one doctoral degree as well as 13 programs with national accreditation.

Typical Activities

The faculty member will teach in the single subject credential program and M.A. in Reading as well as those deemed appropriate by the department in accordance with program needs.  Teaching responsibilities are on the main campus and other locations.  Responsibilities include teaching secondary credential program and master's level courses. All credential coursework focuses on the preparation of teachers for linguistically and culturally diverse students. Field supervision of student teachers and interns, advising students and scholarly and service activities related to the position are also components of the assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned Doctorate from an accredited institution in reading or related field by time of appointment. Teaching experience in grades K-12 (minimum of three years and/or experience teaching reading/writing with graduate/credential students).
