Job Description Summary
The DevOps and Infrastructure Manager will provide technical leadership and oversight for the library's data center systems, and will manage the development of tools, services, and processes to effectively utilize local, hybrid, and cloud-based environments for service and application deployment. They will supervise our Core Services group consisting of two Systems Administrators and two DevOps engineers, and will contribute to system administration and will lead complex system upgrade and service deployment projects. The overall focus will be the establishment of highly reliable, secure, and efficient systems that meet the organizations diverse information storage, processing, discovery and delivery needs.

Datacenter technologies include VMWare infrastructure running a combination of Linux and Windows application servers, storage area networks, Veeam backup systems, load balancers and firewall devices. You'll be expected to oversee infrastructure management and the configuration and lifecycle of mission critical hardware and software used to provide services to our staff and patrons. Our DevOps operations use tools including Docker, Ansible and Gitlab with increasing use of AWS and other cloud services. You'll be responsible for establishing standard processes and procedures and ensuring systems are scalable and responsive. The Core Services team works closely with software developers and end-user IT support staff in a highly collaborative style. You'll have responsibility for monitoring the health and availability of systems and services including fault detection, alerting, triage, and recovery and for benchmarking and analyzing overall performance and health. The ideal candidate will promote excellent security practices while meeting the organization's needs for agile and creative computing services.

The DevOps and Infrastructure Manager should be highly organized and able to maintain consistent inventories and documentation; they should possess strong communication skills to liaise with vendors and regularly gather/share information with colleagues. Working with the Director of Client & Core Services and Director of Application Development, they will promote consistent best practices while helping create innovative new library services

Job Description

Duties:

The DevOps and Infrastructure Manager will:
  • Supervise and organize the work of 4 FTEs.
  • Inform and manage the development of systems architecture for Linux and Windows servers, storage systems, and virtualized and cloud systems.
  • Manage the execution of DevOps pipelines, tools, and strategies.
  • Maintain current and accurate inventories of hardware, software, licenses, contracts for upgrades and support, certificates, etc. Renew resource contracts and flag expirations and conflicts.
  • Monitor and analyze security concerns, deploy campus-provided security tools and liaise with ISC staff regarding systems security.
  • Participate in the development and communication of technical best practices across the TDI division.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree plus three to five years' experience managing servers, storage systems, and networking; or equivalent education plus experience. Experience directly managing technical staff and handling contracts/licenses. Outstanding organizational skills and reliability. Must have proven track record managing complex IT projects. Current experience with, and knowledge of, security technologies used in enterprise systems. Familiarity with Linux/Windows systems administration and virtualization. Familiarity with Docker, Gitlab, and DevOps workflows. Familiarity with security trends, practices, and tools.

$90K-105K commensurate with education and experience
