The University of Miami seeks a transformational and agile leader to provide a business mindset to the human capital needs of the University, leveraging data driven insights to advise executives on current and forward-thinking human resources strategies, operational challenges, and talent management opportunities. Offering a minimum of 20 years’ experience, and at least five years in leadership roles within multi-layered matrixed organizations, including academic or other intellectually complex business environments, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) will be a change maker, a solutions provider, working in a time of constant disruption and persistent competition in higher education, and focused on enhancing workforce and business performance, with the people agenda in mind. The CHRO leads a group of high performing individuals, laser focused on the customer and unrelenting in achieving excellence across a broad range of services and who hold responsibility for functional, strategic, and financial aspects of human resources including: talent acquisition; staff assessment, management, and development; performance review systems; leadership and organizational development; compensation and benefits; affirmative action, EEO and labor relations leadership; and change management.

The CHRO will report directly to the Executive Vice President, Business and Finance and Chief Operating Officer, working closely in crafting innovative human capital solutions, with access to other senior leaders such as the University Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Vice President and Provost, the Executive Vice President of External Affairs and Strategic Initiatives, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Deans, SVP’s, VP’s.

The CHRO will work across functional lines in a productive and diplomatic manner, negotiating, influencing, and excelling in customer service, partnering with the UHealth CHRO, internal and external stakeholders, community leaders, and students. The Chief Human Resources Officer position provides the strategic vision which will develop and lead initiatives impacting the Academy in the areas of talent acquisition and development, compensation and benefits, belonging, diversity and inclusion, within a decentralized organization, serving both institutional and unit level business needs. The Chief Human Resources Officer will specifically collaborate closely with the CHRO of UHealth in leading shared services such as payroll and benefits administration, Title IX, and Talent and Organizational Development.
