Job Description Summary
The Clinical Research Computing Unit (CRCU) is an Academic Clinical Research Organization within the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CCEB) in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Since its inception in 1997, the CRCU has been expertly providing the full range of services essential for the conduct of clinical research projects, including Phase I-IV, multi-center, randomized, clinical trials, registry, and cohort studies utilizing state-of-the-art technology and tools to ensure superior data quality. The CRCU provides expertise in project management, data coordination and research computing tailored to meet your project requirements. The CRCU project teams' partner with the Biostatistics Analysis Center (BAC) in the project design phase to plan accurate and precise data collection modules and to structure project reports for steady oversight. We specialize in study design and development, site management and training, data collection, processing, quality control, regulatory requirements and reporting, database development, administration, security, data storage and proposal development.

Job Description

The project manager will provide comprehensive clinical research project management for the scientific and data coordinating center operations teams in the development and implementation of multi-center studies. This position will provide regulatory oversight as well as day-to-day project and site management for the participating institutions and service providers. The project manager will coordinate and plan with the scientific team, data managers, research technologists and biostatisticians to design and implement the study and solve project problems. This position will participate in the design, execution and leadership of project training and quality assessment processes. This position works with all team members and reports to the Project Director.

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, coordinate, and present study/protocol activities, project team priorities and planning agendas
  • Plan, direct and document the various internal and external committee meetings and communicate decisions and plans to the research team
  • Coordinate project logistics and resources for internal developmental and scientific project teams and external project related committees to ensure clear project related communications
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct project/study specific training sessions
  • Assess regulatory requirements and develop template documents; write IRB submission and oversee regulatory documentation at clinical sites
  • Communicate and document project requirements and information to participating clinical centers, steering committee members and internal project team members
  • Develop and maintain project related documents, standard operating procedures, clinical procedures, Manuals of Operations, etc.
  • Write project proceedings and contribute to annual reports
  • Develop and implement project tracking and reporting procedures
  • Contribute to infrastructure development related to the Project Management and Compliance department.This includes the analysis, development, usage, and integration of standard procedures and policies related to the discipline of research management.
  • Participate in departmental research compliance procedures and best-practice activities


Qualifications

Master's Degree in health-related discipline with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required, 5-7 years' experience is preferred involving clinical research, clinical center operations, and project planning activities is desired.
  • Previous experience working with project management operations and regulatory requirements and working with multi-disciplinary teams is required; This experience must include responsibility for personal and professional commitment to cooperatively established objectives
  • Knowledge (at least three years) of project management business practices and principals, standards and procedures is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present complex information
  • Ability to interact effectively with many levels of faculty, staff and administrative personnel is required.
