Job Description Summary
The University of Pennsylvania Libraries seeks an energetic Intern to participate as a member of the Fisher Fine Arts library, receive mentoring and develop skills in digital technologies. The Fisher Fine Arts Library intern will contribute to the work of the 3D Scanning and Materials Library programs and develop skills related to working with Artec scanners and photography equipment. The intern may also participate in the Penn Libraries live chat and online reference ticket initiatives and serve some hours at the Van Pelt Information Desk. This internship is for up to 20 hours a week and may require some evening and weekend hours.

Job Description

The University of Pennsylvania Libraries seeks an energetic Intern to participate as a member of the Fisher Fine Arts library, receive mentoring and develop skills in digital technologies. The Fisher Fine Arts Library intern will contribute to the work of the 3D Scanning and Materials Library programs and develop skills related to working with Artec scanners and photography equipment. The intern may also participate in the Penn Libraries live chat and online reference ticket initiatives and serve some hours at the Van Pelt Information Desk. This internship is for up to 20 hours a week and may require some evening and weekend hours.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Work with staff on providing 3D scanning services.
  • Work with staff to assist with organizing and documenting Materials Library collections.
  • Participate in live chat and online reference services.
  • Serve at Libraries Information desk.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Current graduate student in ALA accredited library or information science program or another graduate studies program.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong service orientation and willingness to troubleshoot.
  • Desire to learn, adapt quickly, and work independently.
  • Desire to explore work with digital and photographic and 3D scanning tools.
  • Serious attention to detail.
  • Desire to work in libraries and support a diverse academic community.
  • Ability to work on-site in the library spaces.
  • Ability to work some nights and/or weekends.
