The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of assessment and treatment of substance use disorders, molecular genetics of substance us disorders, and pharmacogenetics of alcohol use disorder. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Board eligibility in psychiatry or a clinical psychologist's license.

Teaching responsibilities may include lectures to addiction fellows and psychiatric residents on psychotherapeutic interventions for substance abuse disorders, supervision of psychiatric residents, undergraduate, and medical students interested in conducting research on substance use disorders, and supervision of MIRECC fellows conducting research on substance use disorders.

Clinical responsibilities may include diagnosis and treatment of veterans with substance use disorders.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include conducting research on the genetics of co-occurring major depression with alcohol use disorder and prescription opioid use disorder. Conducting research on medications to treat alcohol use disorder, including pharmacogenetics, and conducting research using positron emission tomography for opioid and other substance use disorders. Evidence of scholarship is required in the Clinician Educator track.
