Department of Social Work
The University of West Florida College of Education and Professional Studies invites applications for a 12-month tenure-track teaching and administrative appointment as Chair of the Department of Social Work. The Chair will have administrative responsibility for the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs. The department completed the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) reaffirmation process for the BSW and MSW programs in 2017. The Social Work program has been serving students since the early seventies and currently has an enrollment of 200 BSW students, 100 MSW students and 100 students who have declared a social work minor. While most students are on the main campus (Pensacola), the program offers courses online and in other locations in Northwest Florida.
Minimum Qualifications for the Position: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Applicants must meet qualifications appropriate for appointment as an associate professor.
Qualifications for Position: The candidate must possess a Doctorate in Social Work or closely related field and a Master of Social Work (MSW), successful experience in academic administration, and demonstrate evidence of a minimum of five years of effective teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in a Social Work program. Additionally, the candidate should present an established research and practice record in Social Work, show a history of service at the university and community levels, and demonstrate knowledge of Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) standards. It is preferred that the candidate has experience in developing and supporting distance education, grant acquisition, securing external funding, and resource development. Starting date is January 03, 2018.
