Peirce College – a private, non-profit institution that equips adult learners, in a personalized, student-centered environment, to achieve their goals and successfully fulfill workforce needs – seeks a strategic and inspirational leader to serve as its next President. The new President will join the College at a key moment in the institution’s history, one that calls for path-setting vision, and confidence leading through growth and change. She or he, in collaboration with the College’s Board and leadership team, will set an exciting future direction for Peirce and ensure that the College remains a leader in adult education and a vital contributor to Philadelphia’s growing workforce.

Founded in 1865 to serve the business education needs of returning Civil War veterans, Peirce today continues that tradition by providing a transformative and supportive academic experience that directly connects higher education to professional growth and financial stability. Located in Center City Philadelphia, Peirce plays a significant role in providing access to education and opportunity for all of its students, many of whom hail from Philadelphia proper and the neighboring areas. The College offers associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in addition to postsecondary awards, certificates, and diploma programs. Peirce awards just over 300 degrees and certificates annually in five program areas: Business, General Studies, Healthcare, Information Technology, and Legal Studies, educating about 2,225 students per year. The College employs 29 full-time faculty and 95 full- and part-time staff, plus additional adjunct faculty as needed, and has an annual operating budget of just over $20M.

The President reports to the Board of Trustees, and will work closely with trustees, the College’s senior leadership team, faculty, and staff to steward the College successfully into the future. She or he should embrace the “family feel” of Peirce’s culture, and should continue to support the close-knit community and strong relationships that undergird the College. Key to the next President’s success will be a comprehensive and compelling vision that presents a creative and entrepreneurial approach to growing enrollment, to ensuring high levels of student and faculty retention, and to diversifying the College’s funding. A strategic thinker and data-driven decision maker, the next President must possess the ability to bring this shared vision to life, mobilizing the campus and the broader Philadelphia community and persuasively communicating the path forward. As the chief ambassador of Peirce College, the President will work to strengthen partnerships and relationships with local and state government, business, industry, alumni, other educational institutions, and civic organizations across the region. Partnerships, resulting in new academic programs or increased enrollment, will be critical to Peirce’s future.
