PROJECT MANAGER, Shipley Center for Digital Learning & Innovation
The Shipley Center for Digital Learning & Innovation (Shipley Center) Project Manager manages the execution of a range of projects through their life cycles. The Project Manager serves as an integral member of the Shipley Center team, a unit created to support Boston University's faculty, departments, and schools with technology-enabled educational innovation in their residential courses and programs. Departmental projects include but are not limited to areas of technology-enabled inclusive pedagogy initiatives; lifelong learning portals and digital infrastructure for advising and mentoring; reimagining and strengthening various aspects of Boston University's residential experience; and experimentation with novel and emergent educational technologies. The ideal candidate would bring to this position a combination of project/program management expertise and high degree of foundational familiarity with trends, best practices and critical challenges in the field of education. The Project Manager reports to the Sr. Project Manager and works closely with other staff of the Shipley Center and the Digital Learning & Innovation teams.
- Drawing on best practices of learning design and educational program evaluation, work with the Shipley Center team and project collaborators to determine and understand the scope and needs of projects; create timelines and work plans; review materials and documentation as shared by other members of the project team toward making project resourcing recommendations; plan and prioritize project activities and deliverables; liaise with other departments and teams toward reaching project objectives.
- Provide guidance to project teams, drawing on best practices of how to lead and navigate change in the field of digital education. Throughout the course of the project lifecycle, facilitate project meetings; track timelines, schedules, budgets and deliverables as needed; monitor project progress; prepare and present project organization and communication documentation, including project plans, agreements and related information. Troubleshoot, adjust priorities and address organizational challenges to maximize collaboration and timely product delivery.
- Maintain detailed record of project activities and retain records upon project completion toward determining current and future project resource needs and stakeholder involvement; report on progress as dictated by project demand and make recommendations on current and future course of action; proactively identify and manage issues and risks.
- Communicate relevant project information, such as progress status and issues to the Shipley Center team, project collaborators and relevant stakeholders. Facilitate and ensure appropriate involvement and communication between individuals and teams as dictated by project demand.
- Drive consensus, timely execution of project activities, and achievement of project objectives. Make recommendations for improving team processes. Help ensure project success through creative problem-solving, obstacle removal, facilitation, capacity building and communication, drawing on core values of mutual respect and collaboration.
- Other duties as necessitated by project demand.

- Three or more years of project coordinating or project management experience and a Master's degree in education or related field required. Additional project management certification and familiarity with agile development and human-centered design preferred.
- Experience working in the field of education, preferably with faculty on educational initiatives.
- Critically optimistic approach to organizational change; exceptional organizational and time management skills and experience with continuous process improvement.
- High resourcefulness with the ability to make sound judgments often with only partial information.
- Exceptional ability to troubleshoot, adjust priorities and proactively tackle organizational challenges to maximize collaboration and timely product delivery.

- Experience working on the development of digital content and piloting educational platforms or tools desired.
