The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, who reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and is a member of the academic leadership team, has responsibility for providing leadership for the largest college in the University. The College of Arts and Sciences is the academic home to 14 departments with more than 2,000 undergraduate students majoring in 19 areas across the humanities, sciences, and social sciences – five interdisciplinary – and more than 300 graduate students in nine graduate programs – one interdisciplinary.  In addition, the College offers courses that provide the liberal arts foundation to all undergraduate programs on campus. The College has a total of 230 faculty members, of whom 140 are full-time and 90 are part-time faculty who are experienced professionals from the surrounding metropolitan area. The Dean must be an active listener who builds consensus and supports faculty as professionals. Specific qualifications include: terminal degree; successful teaching, scholarship, and professional service in a discipline in arts and sciences with rank of a senior faculty member; successful administrative experience; a commitment to fostering faculty growth, development, and collegiality; ability to cultivate financial support for college growth; and evidence of successful administrative experience, including in-depth knowledge of strategic academic planning, financial management, budgeting, and community engagement.
