The City University of New York (CUNY) seeks an experienced advancement operations professional for the newly created position of Associate Vice Chancellor for Advancement Operations (AVCAO).  Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for University Advancement, the AVCAO will play a leadership role in the development and oversight of CUNY’s central advancement operations.

                              

Following an in-depth review of the fundraising history and operations of CUNY and its 24 constituent colleges, the University has embarked upon an ambitious plan to build a new central advancement office which will pursue University-wide fundraising goals and support college fundraising through a shared services model. The AVCAO will play an integral role in the development and management of this university office.  S/he will have responsibility for design and implementation of advancement services systems and protocols to be undertaken in support of the University’s priorities as part of a university-wide effort to significantly increase philanthropic support.

                                

The AVCAO will oversee planning and implementation of the shared services model in the areas of annual giving, database management, and research services. The successful candidate will design and plan components of the model.  S/he will direct and coordinate financial planning and budget management functions.  The AVCAO will play an important role in providing consultative services to centrally located and college-based advancement staff on issues and programs related to shared services functions.  The ideal candidate will establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s goals and objectives.

                             

The AVCAO will have strong managerial experience in advancement operations with a demonstrated ability to effectively define vision and strategy, including creation of systems, implementation, and training.  S/he will develop and execute strategies for continuous quality improvement in services to, and communication with college constituencies, and will develop processes for anticipating and meeting the university’s and colleges’ fundraising, data and research needs.
