Application Deadline: Search Committee will begin reviewing completed applications on/about Monday, January 22, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled.

Qualifications: 1) Ph.D. (preferred), or ABD in Exercise and Sport Psychology or closely related field, from an accredited doctoral- granting institution. 2) Record of undergraduate teaching success. 3) Demonstrated commitment to professional and scholarly activity (extramural funding desirable).

Responsibilities: CSUB is looking specifically for a dynamic person with knowledge, skills, and abilities to work cooperatively with current faculty in extending the current curriculum, and offering additional research opportunities to serve more effectively an ever-increasing number of majors (currently 450+) representing a diverse student body in a culturally diverse community. Teaching assignments will include, but are not limited to, the following existing courses: Exercise and Sport Psychology, Behavioral Aspects of Physical Activity, Motor Development, and Measurement and Evaluation. In addition, the faculty would be expected to teach additional courses, including core courses (i.e., Introduction to Kinesiology) in the undergraduate curriculum. Finally, we would expect the faculty to develop new courses based upon the candidate's expertise and the program's current and future needs.

As a tenure-track Assistant Professor, the candidate must develop, within a normal 6-year probationary period, a sustained record of teaching success (especially at the undergraduate level), research and scholarship (especially involving undergraduate students), and professionally-related service to the community to justify the award of tenure and promotion to Associate Professor.

Background Check: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

Mandated Reporter: The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Compensations: Competitive, dependent upon qualifications and professional experience. The CSU offers excellent health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.

Applications: Nominations are welcomed and encouraged. Complete applications require the following four (4) items: (1) original and personalized letter of application addressing the above requirements and qualifications; (2) current vitae; (3) copy of university transcripts verifying academic record and award of doctorate (or anticipated award for ABD); and (4) names and contact information (mailing address, email address, and office telephone number) for at least three professionals familiar with your teaching and scholarship records.

Clery Act: CSUB's annual crime report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus centers, such as our Antelope Valley Satellite Campus and on property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from CSUB. The report also includes policies concerning security on campus, such as alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, reporting crimes, sexual assault and other subjects. Additionally, a daily log of offenses is maintained and can be reviewed at the front desk of the Department of Public Safety. You can obtain a copy of the annual report by contacting the Department of Public Safety/University Police at (661) 654-2111 or by logging on to the Department of Public Safety website at http://www.csub.edu/bas/police/report/index.html
