Responsible for study coordination for investigator-initiated studies, multi-center research studies, and patient-oriented clinical and translational research projects.

CRC A: This entry-level position will support the faculty and clinical research staff of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the preparation for, conduct of, and completion of any and all Human Subjects Research projects and sub-projects in which they are engaged, specifically for the rare disease Division of Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). This position requires significant dedication and resilience to acquire and apply regulatory knowledge with the duty to protect research patient safety and data integrity. This position will report administratively to the project manager of the FOP Division of Orthopaedic Surgery and will report, on a study-specific basis, to the respective principal investigators. The CRC-A will also work on department level research, education, and quality/process improvement initiatives as required. Position contingent on funding

CRC B: This mid-level position will support the faculty and clinical research staff of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the preparation for, conduct of, and completion of any and all Human Subjects Research projects and sub-projects in which they are engaged, specifically for the rare disease Division of Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). This position requires significant dedication and resilience to acquire and apply regulatory knowledge with the duty to protect research patient safety and data integrity. Qualifications:

CRC A:

A Bachelor's Degree and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Clinical research experience with FOP patients or patients with rare debilitating diseases is preferred. This position requires entry to mid-level professional skills and well-developed speaking, writing, and interpersonal abilities. Experience with electronic data collection systems preferred. A high level of proficiency with UPHS medical records system and research processes is an indispensable part of the job and should be present at the time of hire or developed immediately thereafter. The position also requires working knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment in which human subjects research occurs and conducting research operations accordingly. This includes but is not limited to ICH GCP, 21 CFR, 45 CFR 46, the HIPAA privacy rule, and similar. ACRP and/or SoCRA certification are preferred but not required. Certification is expected within 2 years of hire. Knowledge in the clinical practice of Orthopaedic Surgery is not expected at the time of hire but should be aggressively acquired through clinical exposure with faculty, attendance at Department and Division level meetings, and ongoing independent reading and discussion with faculty and other clinical practitioners, as appropriate to ongoing studies, evolving faculty interests and Departmental/Divisional needs. The candidate should be energetic, interactive and comfortable working both independently and also as part of a team. Excellent customer service inclination and problem-solving skills are required. The candidate must be extremely dependable, compassionate, able to meet deadlines, self-motivated, and highly efficient. They should be comfortable organizing, prioritizing and executing a variety of tasks. They should demonstrate interest in the work, a strong work ethic, and personal and professional integrity. They must also demonstrate extreme sensitivity to the needs and comfort of children, patients and their families. Some travel is possible and a valid driver's license is required. The general work week is 40 hours per week. Willingness and ability to accommodate study and Departmental/Institutional needs outside the specific 40 hour window is expected and required. We welcome individuals who have completed graduate school (Masters or PhD) who wish to transition into clinical research to apply. Compliance with UPHS vaccination and immunization policies is required. UPHS clinical clearance and compliance with other departmental policies applicable to clinical staff is required. Candidate must pass Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Act and federal background checks within 30-90 days of employment. Other clearances may apply either at the time of hire or later. This position is contingent upon funding.

CRC B:

A Bachelor's Degree and 2 to 4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Clinical research experience with FOP patients or patients with rare debilitating diseases is preferred. The candidate should have experience executing all CRC responsibilities of an interventional (drug or device) trial. Experience limited to research on human data sets and/or bench lab only research will not satisfy. This position requires mid-level professional skills and well-developed speaking, writing, and interpersonal abilities. Experience with electronic data collection systems is preferred. A high level of proficiency with UPHS medical records system and research processes is an indispensable part of the job and should be present at the time of hire or developed immediately thereafter. The position also requires working knowledge and understanding of the regulatory environment in which human subjects research occurs and conducting research operations accordingly.
