Job Description Summary
The Prospect Optimization Analyst reports to the Director of Advancement Prospect Management and is responsible for maximizing the utilization of prospects at the University and will serve as the department's primary liaison with fundraising units. The Prospect Optimization Analyst helps to plan and lead the departmental effort to provide prospects to fundraising units that best align with their fundraising goals and objectives. This position will work directly with Advancement Prospect Analytics colleagues to implement the goal of identifying actionable prospects for schools and centers with the highest likelihood of establishing a philanthropic relationship with the University. This position also helps to plan and lead the departmental effort to analyze the health of prospect portfolios using a variety of metrics including optimization rates, prospect aging and prospect engagement and will collaborate in the development of dashboards and reports to make this data accessible and actionable for fundraisers. In addition, the Prospect Optimization Analyst is the department's primary contact for the Prospect Management Committee and is responsible for ensuring that the established prospect management rules are implemented. The Prospect Optimization Analyst will build and distribute meeting action items and verify that meeting results are reflected in the system of record.

Job Description

Specific Responsibilities
  • Responsible for maximizing the utilization of prospects at the University and acting as the department's primary liaison with fundraising units.


  • Support the Prospect Management Committee by being the central point of contact for the department. Oversee meeting agendas and follow up activities.


  • Lead the department's analysis of prospect portfolios using a variety of metrics including optimization rates, prospect aging and prospect engagement. Develop dashboards and procedures to make this data actionable for fundraising areas.


  • Plan and lead the efforts of APA in consulting with fundraising units to develop prospect development strategies that align with fundraising unit goals and objectives.


  • Develop and conduct training for Advancement staff on prospect optimization techniques, tools and procedures.


  • Collaborate in the development of dashboards and reports to make prospect optimization data actionable for fundraisers.

The pay range for this position is $55,000 to $75,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

BS/BA in field relevant to departmental activities and 2-3 years of directly relevant experience in a large, complex University or other non-profit fundraising environment or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Excellent ability to interpret and communicate complex and nuanced prospect management procedures. Programming or systems analysis experience. Demonstrated data analysis skills including experience with dashboard and reporting tools like Tableau/QlikView/Power BI and SQL. Ability to assimilate and summarize large data sets. Excellent written and oral presentation skills. Ability to lead in an intensive and time-focused campaign environment and the ability to manage by influence across multiple and diverse Schools, Centers and other fundraising units.
