Description: The Department of Geological Sciences at California State University Bakersfield (CSUB) announces a tenure track, Assistant Professor position in Geology beginning in Fall 2018.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in the geological sciences is preferred, but ABD Ph.D. candidates will also be considered. Postdoctoral experience or college level teaching experience is preferred. Preferred specializations include (but are not limited to) petrophysics, basin analysis, subsurface fluid dynamics, and geophysics. The successful applicant will have the ability to develop an externally funded research program that provides student opportunities in collaboration with local industry and the new California Energy Research Center on campus. Teaching responsibilities will include a course in petroleum geology, and introductory and upper-level courses in the faculty member's specialty. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to sharing in department responsibilities toward the education of our undergraduate and graduate majors as well as toward our service courses and outreach to K-12 schools.
Background Check: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
Mandated Reporter: The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The report also includes policies concerning security on campus, such as alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, reporting crimes, sexual assault and other subjects.
