Description: We invite applicants for a tenure-track position in Biology at the level of Assistant Professor. We seek candidates with a research focus in freshwater biology, with a focus on multicellular animals. The taxonomic/specific research focus is not a chief consideration for this position, and research may be ecological, physiological, or evolutionary. A successful candidate must be capable of developing an externally funded research program that includes both undergraduate and graduate students (M.S. level). Our curriculum broadly covers biology and candidates will teach courses that include general education, introductory biology, as well as advanced courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in their area of specialty.

Qualifications: a) Ph.D. in Biology, b) experience in teaching courses in related areas of expertise, c) evidence of potential to conduct reviewable independent research in area of expertise, d) commitment to a quality undergraduate liberal arts education and a biology program that emphasizes student research projects involving problem solving, data analysis, and writing.

Background Check: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSUB employees who apply for the position.

Mandated Reporter: The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set for in CSU Executive Order 1083 and a condition of employment.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Research startup funds available as well as a research laboratory space.
