Position Summary:
Teach six courses per year. The primary teaching areas will be advertising, strategic communication and public relations. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach design and writing courses related to strategic communication, and conduct research in this field. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to teach occasionally in the UI's interdisciplinary seminar (ISEM) program for first-year students, and to advise undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

 

Terminal degree in a media, marketing or design field (Ph.D., MFA and MBA acceptable); at least five years of professional experience in public relations, advertising, marketing or strategic communications; ability to teach applied design and concept courses in digital media; and demonstrated teaching effectiveness at the university level. The candidate must show potential for scholarship consistent with the School’s guidelines for promotion.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Additional professional experience (beyond five year minimum) in strategic communication, marketing, public relations, advertising or an applied design field; ability to contribute through service and outreach to the School, the University and to the advertising and public relations practitioners in the region; interest and involvement in professional and academic organizations; experience working with multicultural populations or for media outlets serving diverse communities.
