Assistant to President

Assistant to President Board & Governmental Relations Provides strategic leadership for University and Board of Regents, State of Iowa interactions; serves asuniversity coordinator for communication with the Board of Regents office; directs communication for theOffice of the President; on behalf of the University, works with congressional delegation and their staffs, federal agency personnel, and university faculty, staff, and administration to secure funds and supportive legislation and policies; on behalf of the University, collaborates with the University State Relations Officer, Board of Regents staff, university faculty, staff and administration to secure state appropriates and supportive legislation and policies; and maintains budgets for President’s division. Master’s degree in public policy or related field plus at least five years of experience in governmentalrelations, public policy, higher education policy and planning, or related field. Ability to analyze, summarize, and communicate information effectively in both oral and written form; knowledge of budget management; and effective problem solving skills also required. Doctorate or terminal degree preferred. Frequent travel will be necessary. Criminal and other relevant background checks required.
