Northern Kentucky University

Dean of the College of Health Professions (CHP)

Highland Heights, Kentucky

Northern Kentucky University (NKU), a growing metropolitan university located near Cincinnati, seeks a dynamic and innovative leader to serve as the Dean of the College of Health Professions (CHP). The next dean will join NKU at an exciting moment in time. With an unprecedented investment from the state in the health of the region, the scheduled opening of a $105 million Health Innovation Center (HIC) that will serve as an anchor for transdisciplinary education and interprofessional training, and the new relationship with the University of Kentucky College of Medicine set to start in 2019, NKU is in a position to serve as a leader in health innovation and a key contributor in improving population health in the region, distinguishing NKU both regionally and nationally.

As NKU approaches its 50th anniversary, it has a proud history as a student-first regional comprehensive that provides a transformative educational experience at a great value. A growing public university in Kentucky, NKU is committed to instilling a passion in its students that will lead them to fulfilling careers, community engagement, and meaningful lives. This commitment has been a driving force as the university has expanded academic offerings and advanced new opportunities for experiential learning for its students.

The dean will report to the provost and, as a member of Dean’s Council, will partner closely with the new president and his/her executive team. The dean also will work closely with chairs of the two departments (Allied Health and Nursing) in the college, the deans of NKU’s other five colleges, and other members of the Academic Affairs Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening and expanding the college’s academic enterprise, capitalizing on opportunities presented by the new Health Innovation Center, promoting research in the college, recruiting and retaining outstanding faculty and staff, and identifying partnerships and efficiencies that lead to a thriving future for the college and university.
