The Department of Surgery, Division of Outcomes, Research and Quality in the College of Medicine at Penn State University in Hershey, Pennsylvania, seeks a health services researcher with expertise in economic evaluation for a tenure-track faculty position at the Professor or Associate Professor level who will serve as Chief of the Division. The candidate will be expected to conduct independent and collaborative research, participate in graduate-level teaching, and lead an outcomes research division in an academic surgery department with an expanding research base and exciting opportunities for research and training.The candidate will join and lead a highly productive, multidisciplinary research division. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with clinical researchers and to develop an independent research program.Requirements for the position include a doctoral degree in health economics or a related population health sciences field and research experience demonstrating the capacity to apply health economic methods in health services research. Familiarity with large databases is preferred, including MEPS, HCUP NIS and KID, USRDS, NHANES, SEER-Medicare, or others. Major research interests in the Department of Surgery are cancer, surgical outcomes, patient reported outcomes, quality of care, economic evaluation, and outcomes research. The Division provides excellent staff support in grants administration, statistical programming, data management, and research computing. Opportunities also exist for joint appointments in other College of Medicine departments and at the University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University.Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and credentials.
