The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (ESFCOM) at Washington State University is a next generation, community based medical school. In partnership with Merritt Hawkins, the nation’s leading executive and academic physician search firm, ESFCOM is seeking a Senior Associate Dean for Student Educational Experience (SEE), a physician administrator with demonstrated success in the education of physician leaders. S/he is an innovator who ensures that the educational experience encountered by each student is in accordance with the stated mission of the ESFCOM and also provides for appropriate levels of self-direction and personalization. S/he leads professional administrative teams responsible for: medical student recruitment and admissions; student affairs; and curriculum development and administration. S/he oversees the identification and implementation of educational best practices, monitors individual student performance and provides targeted support and remediation programming to students in need. S/he works closely with the Chair of Medical Education and Clinical Sciences to ensure horizontal and vertical integration as well as overall efficacy of the medical education curriculum. She/he coordinates with the regional campus deans to ensure comparable clinical education experiences across all clerkships.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctor of Medicine MD, PhD, EdD or equivalent in relevant field
  • Experience at rank of Associate Professor or higher at an accredited medical school in the United States
  • Experience with innovative educational methodologies and interacting with the LCME
  • Proven experience developing and leading student educational experience in a medical school or clinical environment
  • Proven success in managing professionals in a complex organization

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Served in a senior leadership role in a community based medical school or academic health center
  • Experience with self-directed learning, integrated clerkships, use of technology in curriculum delivery, and/or the evaluation of curriculum implementation
