Chair, Department of Political Science

The Department of Political Science at Lehigh University invites applications for Department Chair. Appointment to the position begins on August 15, 2018.

We seek an innovative leader whose record qualifies for appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure, or associate professor with tenure (with credentials to soon merit application to full). The Department invites applicants who bring relevant academic and administrative experience, and welcomes applications from scholars in all areas within political science, with a preference for expertise in any of the subfields of American Politics.

Serving approximately 70 undergraduate majors and 15 graduate students, the Department of Political Science offers a BA degree, and a one-year MA in Political Science.

The department chair is expected to provide academic and administrative leadership to 15 faculty and staff, teach two courses per year, conduct research, oversee and engage in departmental operations including budgetary management, and serve as a member of the College's leadership team.

Qualifications include a doctorate in political science, public administration, public policy or related field, along with an established record of excellence in (1) scholarly achievement (2) teaching, and (3) administrative leadership. The incoming chair must demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion and excellent communication, mentoring, and organizational skills.
