DEPUTY CIO FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Information Technology California State Polytechnic University, Pomona The Division of Information Technology at Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for the position of Deputy CIO for Information Technology. THE DIVISION: The Division for Information Technology provides innovative, strategic and cost-appropriate technology services in collaboration with the campus community to advance the mission of the University. Technology services are recognized as an essential resource in furthering the University's mission. IT will provide technology solutions, expert consultation, and leadership resulting in numerous enhancements to the advancement of learning and knowledge and to the effectiveness of campus support services and business processes for the entire University. The Deputy Chief Information Officer will contribute to providing central leadership and management for the design, development, maintenance of campus-wide computing and communications for faculty, staff and students. THE POSITION: The Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) reports to the VP/Chief Information Officer of the Information Technology (IT) Division. The incumbent will serve as the delegate with authority for the technology organization when the VP/CIO is temporarily or unexpectedly unavailable. The incumbent will coordinate with the VP/CIO to oversee change management, incident tracking, and new service rollout and enhancements. The incumbent will also be responsible for the information compliance management strategy and tracking information technology metrics, and reporting. This position is also responsible for tracking with the VP/CIO the ongoing management of information technology policies and procedures in order to maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability of campus-wide systems. Directs all compliance activities related to IT by overseeing the adoption of IT policies and procedures and assuming responsibility for all IT auditing and risk management projects. This position will provide oversight of the business continuity (BC) and disaster recovery (DR) documentation, work with the University community to establish Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity criteria, and work with IT teams throughout the University to establish Disaster Recovery requirements. The incumbent will partner with the IT Council to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the internal controls and assessment process, monitor regulations for new or changed requirements, and coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance. This role will assist senior management in identifying control gaps and associated remediation plans, and that policies and procedures are updated in a timely manner. The position will maintain awareness of external regulations for new or changed requirements within IT and identify industry standards from which to modify core IT risk processes (e.g. ISO27001-2, ITIL, NIST, etc.), by staying ahead of industry trends and emerging threats. Reporting to this position includes the Information Security Team, Information Compliance and Accessibility Team, and the Project Management Team. This position will interface with a diverse team of managers, technical professionals, administrative staff and student assistants. The Deputy CIO serves as a member of the IT Council and the IT Leadership Team and works in collaboration with other leaders in IT and other divisions to support the university's strategic plan. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ten years of experience in an information technology, information security, IT project management, or an IT audit role. Experience with implementing and or operating with IT governance or IT risk and compliance processes in large scale IT organizations. 5+ years of direct leadership experience and established track-record of successfully and directly managing IT budgets and support staff. Familiarity in implementing and managing

core security compliance systems and processes such as: IT Compliance Management, Risk Assessment, 3rd Party Risk Management, Policy Management, and Security Awareness. Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, GLBA, FERPA, WCAG, WAI-ARIA, etc. Familiarity with control frameworks such as CobiT, ITIL, ISO27001. Excellent communication skills with experience preparing and presenting information clearly and concisely, in writing and orally, to a wide-range of internal, external and customer constituencies, including technical and non-technical executives. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study reasonably related to the position. Maintain relevant IT professional certification such as the Program Management Professional (PMP), ITIL Foundations, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or other Information Security / IT audit certification (e.g. CISA). PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related discipline. 5 years of experience in Management in an Information Technology organization in a University environment. Significant experience in a large, complex and diverse public sector information technology organization. Demonstrated experience with the full implementation of large-scale projects.
