ELCE is now looking to fill the following faculty position:

 

Assistant Professor, Educator Experience-Based Learning & Career Education

 

Appointment: Non-Tenure (Educator) Track

 

Date of Appointment: August 15, 2017 with a possible adjunct appointment for summer 2017

 

Responsibilities

This is an Assistant Professor, Educator position with primary responsibility for working with students participating in the Pre-Health Internship Program. This position requires competencies to instruct students interested in pursuing a wide variety of careers in health care, including an understanding of the application and admissions process for professional school programs. This position involves working collaboratively with the Pre-Professional Advising Center.

 

On a full-time basis, an Educator faculty member’s primary responsibility involves regular classroom instruction in the pedagogical mission of the Division of Experience-Based Learning and Career Education (ELCE) and advising students enrolled in assigned programs regarding career-relevant development. This faculty member’s primary responsibility will be advancing the mission of the Pre-Health Internship Program through classroom teaching, student advising, and internal/external partnership development. The position involves teaching professional development and experiential learning courses for pre-health students, developing internship positions in the health care field, and advising students as they progress on the pre-health pathway.

 

Additionally, Educator appointed faculty are expected to contribute to scholarship of teaching and learning or of their academic discipline, and to the service missions of the university. Specific expectations may be described in the letter of appointment and the unit reappointment and promotion criteria.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A non-tenure track appointment requires a minimum of a Master’s Degree. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the health care professions, including preparing a competitive application to health professions programs.
  • The candidate’s background must reflect effectiveness in interpersonal relationships and the ability to work harmoniously with a variety of interest groups. Demonstrated organizational, written and oral communications skills are essential.
  • Two years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Candidate must have the ability to use Windows-based office software products and course management platforms.

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will possess relevant, professional experience in both academic and non-academic environments. Documented teaching and advising experience preferred.
  • Professional experience in experiential learning preferred.
  • Documented experience in instruction and/or professional training preferred.
  • Candidates should be committed to issues of diversity and inclusion; an understanding of social and ethical issues in health care preferred.
