As a member of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs’ leadership team reporting to the Provost, the newly created position of Associate Vice President for Graduate Education, Grants and Sponsored Research will serve as principal leader, administrator and planner for graduate affairs and externally funded scholarship for the College. In collaboration with campus leadership and in alignment with the College’s mission, the incumbent is expected to develop the expectations, infrastructure, policies, procedures and programs to elevate the status of graduate education, increase the capacity and compliance for external grant and sponsored program funding (including the IRB process), and provide advocacy for campus-wide scholarly activities.
Qualifications: The new Associate Vice President will be a dynamic and collaborative leader and an accomplished scholar with a strong vision for the creation of a service-oriented unit that serves both faculty and graduate students while maintaining the compliance standards of funding agencies and the institution. The College seeks an accomplished scholar with expertise in both research development and administration and experience leading complex teams and/or organizations. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned higher education administrator with a strong record of teaching excellence and grant funded scholarship, who has experience in supervising staff and graduate students, assessing student learning outcomes, budget management, and working with shared governance, curriculum and graduate instruction. The new Associate Vice President must be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and be familiar with higher education trends in grants and sponsored research and graduate education. An earned doctorate from an accredited institution and experience commensurate with the ranking of Professor are required.
